Dr. Seuss, Things 1 and 2

My digital camera died, and so this picture is taken from my computer which takes mirror image pictures, that is why this project looks backwards. Anyway, I love Dr. Seuss and one of my favorite things about Kindergarten is that we make up holiday's to celebrate so I jump at the chance to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday. This project came to me on through pinterest and I don't know the origin but I love this one. The kids trace their shoes for the bodies and their hands for the hair and draw the rest. It is fun, cute and ties in several fine motor skills and direction following practice. Enjoy!

Shamrock Handprints

The hand print project for March is this festive green shamrock. After painting the child's hand green, I stamp the hand 3 times, fingers pointing toward the center of the paper, creating the leaves. The teacher or student can add the stem. We created the project quilt by alternating the shamrocks and tube leprechauns.

Dazzlers

After the big 100th day celebration, Zero the Hero stops visiting and numbers ending is zero lose some of their enticement. I had the student make dazzlers on the 110th day of school to remind them that they are getting dazzlingly smarter every day!
We used clean baby food jars, added sticky back pictures, confetti and glitter. Then we placed the top on securely and shook them up. Dazzling! I showed the students that when they brought the dazzler home, they could fill it with water for more shaking fun. They were encouraged to ask an adult to check that the top was on tight!

Leprechaun

Here is the March toilet paper tube project. I love this one! You need 2 tubes glued together and painted green. Using white construction paper cut out a circle and draw the face. Also make some mitten like hands. With black construction paper make boots and a hat. This look fantastic hanging over the edge of a table or shelf.
Enjoy!
